maybe we don't apply the enshittification term to everything that's shitty and slightly connected to capitalism? i mean, yeah, i can understand the use and how easy it can be to just blurt it out when capitalism fucks up something, but enshittification is 'platform decay' for some specific reasons, which really need to be addressed again and again. by using enshittification for everything that turns to shit, it's getting relative af and useless term.

look, writing algorithms that are mimicking how we make music is a creative act. it's a research, a step within the greater project of sculpting art. if it uses machine learning and statistical analysis, some language models, totally fine. applications like reverberation removal, new surprising chord progressions, etc - nothing wrong with that.

what changes this is the context within global (platform) capitalism. nonethical extraction of artistic labor for profit gains is unacceptable.

there are things we don't need in order to be a better societly. when LLM are employed to create a service that brings more profits to the already filthy rich who don't pay taxes, it's something that we don't need. if it gobbles up unconcivable amounts of energy, takes up land and water from those who desperately need it, it's unacceptable.
