Little known fact...The Civil War never really ended, at least in the South. I'm a 7th generation Texan, and I can't believe how certain attitudes have not really changed. My partner is from Massachusetts, and when I told him that several years ago, he scoffed at that notion. He no longer scoffs, but sees what I mean, especially in the last 10 years. It's been fairly recent that the Confederate flag is not flown proudly down here, with the U.S. flag and the Texas flag. If you know recent state legislation, you also know it's true. It's nuts, and white men still rule at the state capitol.
@georgetakei Buy the baby 3 dozen disposable diapers, stick a bow on them, and call it a day. A real win-win...And they will get used. They aren't cheap, either.
@georgetakei ...And you are first and foremost, an American. That means something, and we are yet to reach our true potential. It takes work and patience to get there.
@georgetakei It was pretty obvious, and why the media and pundits didn't point this out a long time ago shows their own fear and also some weird need to keep the dangerous game going at an equally dangerous time world-wide. That's the way I've seen the Tuberville mess since the beginning. One senator should not have that much power. We need to change that.
Nope. I sense something more sinister behind it. This isn't even about voting, but some kind of takeover. Remember January 6th? He's confident he won't need ANY votes to get power.
@georgetakei I'm in Central Texas and Talarico is the best person, who should be marked for future leadership, in our legislature. He's intelligent, articulate, and honest. I hope he gets the opportunity to become...more.
@georgetakei There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. Genesis 6:4 My Sunday school teachers never explained this one to me either...
@georgetakei I think he's scared, especially of Chris Christie, who would nail him to the wall. I don't like Christie, but he's intelligent, and not afraid to let it fly. Also, if he stalked any of the others like he did Hillary Clinton, he probably wouldn't be allowed (yes, allowed) to get away with it.
@georgetakei Agreed. For instance, prayer in schools has been an issue off and on for years. I remember telling friends in high school (in the 60's)that I often pray for lots of things, but no one needs to be aware of it but me and God. I could even do it while taking a test in Algebra! Wow! If you have a need for an audience for what you are doing, you are not praying.
Texas GOP’s broadest attempt yet to erode blue cities’ power gets one step closer to becoming law
Gov. Greg Abbott and other supporters of the bill have long sought legislation to push back against local regulations that they say hamper business owners and harm the state’s economy.
@georgetakei I think this could also be true for adult women. Women made many inroads over the last 50 years. Now it feels like all the hard work and progress are eroding away...
