We are aware of reports that the "explore" tab is stuck, but currently we have no idea how to fix this. Needs more investigating. #mastoadmin

At the peak of the spam wave, we were limiting ("silencing") 190 instances to avoid incoming spam without breaking contact entirely.

We've just started reviewing if they've taken action in the meantime. We were able to remove the limits for 133 instances which have suspended the spam accounts (and in most cases secured their registrations).

As we expected for #37c3 we got a few new users over the last few days. If you invited anyone and they don't get their activation mail they may use one of the Microsoft mail services. We can't sent mails there: https://chaos.social/@ordnung/111284669793607783

Oh and we blocked registrations from outlook.com, live.com and outlook.de domains. #mastoadmin

If you have used a mail account that is registered via outlook.com or another service provided by Microsoft to register on chaos.social, you won't receive mails anymore because they blocked us or the whole network of our provider (again). We will not fix it this time, change your mail provider to someone less annoying. #mastoadmin

Heads-up to chaos.social users: This week, Meta (Facebook/Instagram) are releasing their new app, Threads, which reportedly will be Fediverse-compatible.

There are a lot calls to block (or not block) them. We are both too busy this week to make a truly considered decision – sorry for that. Please give us a couple of days: We will sit down and make a call during or just after the weekend.

We'll post here once we've made a decision.

If you want to block them yourself, you can do so once they go live by selecting "Block <domain>" in the context menu of one of their posts or accounts.

If you want to block them ahead of time, you can do so via the CSV import. On https://chaos.social/settings/import, select "Domain blocking list" and upload a file containing "threads.net", (and to be safe, "threads.instagram.net").

Thank you for your patience. After observing the first 24 hours of Threads, we decided to block threads.net (in advance of them at some point joining the Fediverse).

There are openly, aggressively transphobic accounts on Threads.net with no visible attempt at moderation. We would defederate from any other Fediverse instance with that behaviour and no moderation, and there is no reason to treat threads.net any different.

@farshidhakimy Ist soweit für uns erkennbar ist kein Problem mit der Instanz. Ob du geblockt bist, müsstest du mit der Administration dort klären.
