I'm reading "Blood in the machine" by @brianmerchant and was struck by the following two factoids:
- An independent 2021 report found that Amazon warehouse workers have an injury rate that is 80% above industry average. - At some Amazon facilities, EMT drivers are paid to idle outside, to deal with heat exhaustion, because this is cheaper than installing air conditioning.
It is no surprise that Amazon is cheap to order from. This kind of sociopathic exploitation is part of what enables that.
@samuteki As a person who is (still) excited by Rage against the Machine, the line "(your) anger is a gift" (in their song "Freedom") has always given me the tingles.

The anger of the oppressed is crucial for facing, and - hopefully - overcoming injustice (even if it might, in some cases, not be safe to express that anger publicly).
