Huge love for the NHS but they've developed a very neat little swindle where I know I have a dodgy mole that needs to come off, my GP knows this dodgy mole needs to come off, it's a textbook dodgy mole for the urgent referral pathway. And I did indeed get a hospital appointment within two weeks... for someone who is not a dermatologist to take a photo of said dodgy mole.

(I'm fine btw, no need to worry, just want this mole gone)

Have received a message saying I have "atypical naevus" (medicalese for "dodgy mole") and they now need to look at it in person and... I FUCKING KNOW WE ALL FUCKING KNOW WHY DID YOU WASTE A PHOTOGRAPHER'S TIME

One of my unfavourite things of working at @vagina_museum is sometimes stumbling on bizarre far-right conspiracy theories surrounding the museum. Here's one which is just a little bit funny, brought to you by that chud who had to eat a book because he was so wrong...

In among his listicle is the VM, obvs (or this never would have come to my attention). Now, a lot to unpack here, and we'll get on the main fictitious claim about money later but for the time being let's just take a moment to appreciate his ineptitude even in being transphobic. He accidentally sincerely said "people with vaginas". Oopsie.

It seems that in order to subsidise writing books so that he can eat them, Matt has unfortunately had to churn out a living writing listicles based on random substack articles that other chuds have written.

Anyway, I was very baffled by the £113,000 figure, because I've been doing fundraising for @vagina_museum since 2019 and we have *never* received a sum like that from "research councils" like Book Muncher claims in his preamble. So I had to don a hazmat suit and find out what the fuck Charlotte Gill is on about. Side note, is she related to nepo baby Flora, ie the kid of a former home secretary and a Times journalist?

The first thing I discovered was that *someone* must be nepotisming Charlotte because she is a *horrible* writer. The second thing I learned is that, despite claiming to have visited the museum in 2019, she still cannot comprehend the difference between a vagina and a vulva.

The third thing I found out is that Charlotte is a terrible investigator who went on the charity commission webpage and didn't even actually read the posted accounts. That's where the number came from.

Now, a competent journalist with a nose for a story would know that charities have to be very, very transparent about spending government money, and simply downloading the relevant, publically-available accounts would reveal exactly how it was spent.

A competent journalist would also have a basic awareness of a massive increase in government spending across all sectors in financial years between 2020 and 2022 because... the furlough scheme.

Now, obviously Museum Had To Furlough Staff During Lockdown is not an interesting story, and certainly not an interesting story to transphobic conspiracy theorists. Thankfully, Matt is a big fan, and thinks this is super clever big brain investigative journalism.

Anyway, dreadfully disappointed. The museum could very much do with £113,000 and a tiny part of me hoped Matt knew we'd been given a substantial sum of money before I did. :(
