I remember watching an amazing video where women gymnasts did the "men's" apparatus and vice versa. Was such an interesting watch, because the women smacked it on everything, while most of the men... much less so.
Seriously, this is just how much the entire story stinks. Don't fall for it. If you absolutely *must* try to argue with bigots, why not go straight to the main point, which is that russia probably made the entire thing up
2023 (ctd): -IBA demand another test on Imane. Test is unspecified, but Imane is disqualified. -at no point is anything specified about tests Imane underwent in 2022 or 23 aside from that they were NOT testing for testosterone. -even Imane and her coach don't know and aren't told the results of the completely unspecified test test. -meanwhile IOC is considering dropping boxing altogether on account of the IBA being so dodgy.
A quick tl;dr summary on just how much the Imane Khelif story is probably made up: 2022: -IBA, sponsored by Gazprom, re-elects a Russian president, uncontested. -said president immediately unsuspends Russia and suspends Ukraine -Imane Khelif takes some sort of unspecified gender test before world championships, everything is fine. She wins a silver medal.
2023: -IOC strips status of IBA at the governing body because it is just so fuckin corrupt -Imane beats a Russian boxer
Current Olympics: -in the run up to the games, the Russian president of the IBA is doing the circuits, spreading rumours about two boxers and results of the completely unspecified tests. This is a major privacy breach. Also, very decent chance the entire test was "you're better at boxing than this Russian boxer therefore you are a man" -Imane beats an Italian with ties to the far right who also isn't very good at boxing -said Italian does white woman tears
-Russian president of IBA goes hog wild on rumours -press seems to accept all of this uncritically -IBA award the Italian a huge amount of "prize money"
Okay but for real I wouldn't go around repeating/arguing with the XY thing because: 1. her chromosomes, whatever they are, are her own private medical information 2. the only source for that is some incredibly controversial russian dude, so there's a decent chance it isn't true.
100% permissible to laugh at all the weirdos complaining that women's boxing involves women getting punched hard in the face tho. in fact, laugh hard at that one.
just discovered this incredibly soothing youtube channel that shows videos of US trucks getting can-openered by a low bridge despite multiple safety warnings https://m.youtube.com/@11foot8plus8
