Electing officials with a vote does not a democracy make. If those officials do not represent the interests of the people and are accountable to the law then you do not live in a democracy.

Why is this such a difficult concept for people to understand?

@Mab_813 as I said Samsung is the predominant force that controls the nations politics. If you believe the elected officials are not subservient to the needs of the Samsung dynasty then you know WAY less about South Korean politics than you think you do.

If the elected officials serve corporate interests above the people that elected them then no, its not a democracy and befroe you even ask NO. Japan and the United states are not democracies either they're Pathocracies, and have been for decades.

@Mab_813 South Korea couldn't even charitably called a democracy. Samsung basically holds a gun to the head of the entire system.

The reality is young Koreans, especially women who are effectively treated as second class citizens are absolutely miserable.
