My own grandfathers I will never live up to. Both were heroes of WWII.

One was an engineer with the Royal Navy, and fought in both the Atlantic and the Pacific. He gave me a lot of my passion for physics and electronics. He showed me how to make a crystal radio.

The other was special forces, before special forces existed. He was a member of the Desert Rats, a precursor to the SAS, who used unconventional warfare to stop Rommel in North Africa. I actually didn't know that part until years after he was gone. I simply knew him as a kind man who liked to sit by the fire.
