I get that people have the best of intentions when they try to argue that Star Trek isn't a dead franchise, but... this is a series that once had a member of a resistance group inspired by real life Palestinian resistance as a sympathetic main character. And now it's apolitical CGIslop owned by a corporation that runs a blacklist of any actor who's ever spoken in support of Palestine.

Trump's problem isn't that he's un-American. Trump's problem is that he's *authentically* American. He stands for this nation's core values of white supremacy, patriarchy, and pure, unfettered greed without any of the pretenses of decency that the "moderate" patriot suffers from.

i need y'all to understand that the moderate who tells you that you can't protect marginalized people from fascists because it'll paint progressives as dangerous criminals is just as vital a component of fascism as the goon actively rounding up those marginalized people.

fascism's true believers are *very* few in number. the bulk of fascism's power comes from treacherous moderates who will tell you that, yes, fascism is bad - but resistance is worse.

i will say it really sucks how 'harm reduction' - a term that describes showing compassion to drug users & providing resources to make drug use safer - has been co-opted by people who couldn't care whether drug users live or die to defend politicians who also couldn't care whether they live or die
