    @miles @whitequark That was my first guess too - a series of challenges specifically designed to be solved on an FPGA.

    I'd actually been thinking it would be great to have some sort of series of challenges / puzzles for Amaranth: I'm at the stage of my learning where I can make a jiggly waveform in the (fantastic!) playground, but not yet do anything useful enough to be worth going through the pain of making stuff work on real hardware. I'm currently lacking motivation to bridge that gap.

    @miles @whitequark

    It would be amazing if there existed, say, a series of simple but progressively harder puzzles, that require (or at least encourage) learning & using the features of Amaranth - that could be executed in the playground, and where solving one challenge unlocks the next one.

    @miles @whitequark Challenges could be things like:
    - Make a waveform that says "Hello world" in Morse code
    - Implement a simple UART that receives a byte & outputs that many pulses
    - Read a byte from an I2C memory
    - Implement a simple "processor" that can execute trivial instructions
    Someone more creative than me could even put together a theme ("solve these puzzles to rescue the dragon from the evil fairy" or somesuch) to link them together.

    (I realise this would be a lot of work to do!)

    @whitequark I'd be sorely tempted to reply along the lines of:

    > Thanks for your response. To be clear, are you going on the record to say that (insert examples of obvious brokenness eg local cycling forums shutting down / whatever) is *intentional*?

    (I'm not sure if this is actually the best way forward - it's quite aggressive - but it's definitely tempting!)

    @whitequark There's this, though I'm not sure it helps very much?
