It's still bewildering to me how puritans be like, "Sex is an addiction that corrupts the soul"
Meanwhile I can ask the kinkiest, horniest fuckers I know for platonic cuddles and they're okay with that

Gaming on Linux in practice be like:
@lanodan I haven't looked at the audit report yet. They might have only reviewed the Rust code, which I haven't looked at yet
Found and disclosed a 3rd vuln on my lunch break because I wondered, "what if I just got lucky and hit the places that were actually vuln?"
lol
I suspect there are even more, but that's as much of my time and energy as I want to put into looking at their code.
@david_chisnall I don't think you understand how easy these were to find.
I didn't even touch grep!
One of the Matrix developers saw fit to comment on my gist https://gist.github.com/soatok/8aef6f67fec9c702f510ee24d19ef92b?permalink_comment_id=5058644#gistcomment-5058644
In response, I actually looked at their code, identified two security vulnerabilities, and disclosed them to their security@ email.
This reaffirms the opinion I held previously.
@cendyne BB threatened to kill me and my family once
That's when I learned how to wipe and reinstall windows
An amusing story.
At my previous employer, right before the COVID-19 pandemic, they were going to renovate the offices in the city. I had to visit for a few weeks for orientation.
They previewed what our new office walls would look like. They had this weird dark turquoise/green color to them.
One of the engineers insisted that it was, in fact, "dark slate grey". This became a shitpost at stand-up, and they decided to repurpose the whiteboard to take a poll.
"What color is this?" (printed thing from new room stuck to whiteboard with magnet).
* Green
* Blue
* Turquoise
* Dark Slate Grey
Next to each option, they had the handles of everyone that voted for it.
I decided to up the shitpost game.
Epilogue: The very next day, I was supposed to fly back home. Everything was in lockdown, due to the COVID-19 outbreak. There was confusion about whether or not I was permitted to fly home. (I did get to fly home, but it distracted us all from the shitpost!)
In October 2022, I flew back out there for some presentations. When I stopped by the Cryptography team's offices, I looked at the whiteboard and, lo and behold, my dumb shitpost was preserved for nearly 3 years.
Now, this is the Cryptography department, not the art department.
I dug up an old CFRG mailing list thread about Curve25519 and the alternate formulas that were discussed in the paper.
https://mailarchive.ietf.org/arch/msg/cfrg/oOY_QNA6QMsTJHLLbUjch6-GLsc/
One was named PinkBikeShed, the other was named FuschiaBikeShed.
So I quickly sketched both of these down as options to vote for:
y^2 = x^3 + 464586x^2 + x mod 2^255-19
y^2 = x^3 + 358990x^2 + x mod 2^255-19
I then wrote my username next to the formula for FuschiaBikeShed. :3
This was normal behavior for us, by the way.
One day, at standup, we decided to brainstorm the worst sprint names.
Honorable mentions:
1. The Next One
2. We Miss [Coworker's Name that Left the Team]
3. Prod (as in caddle prod, not production)
There are two outcomes for the culture of any security-focused team in tech:
1. Burned out, high turnover, high anxiety disasers
2. Shitposting stoics
I'm sure there's some overlap, but I have yet to see a team that doesn't land in either camp.
(Camp 2 is the better one, IMO)
@ryanc No, but there's probably someone writing Perl to generate Assembly and getting rubber stamped already
You can save the "sex is bimodal, not binary" discussion for after they concede the first point, btw
Young conservatives' obsession with placing liberal and leftist men in the "failed masculinity" box is actually useful in 1:1 conversations
It belies two things:
1. A recognition that your sex is not your gender, because even if you're an adult male, they don't consider you "a man"
2. A recognition that two genders isn't sufficient even if you're only focused on maleness. Press them. "If failed masculinity is a thing, what are adult 'beta males' if not men?"
If done well, you can sometimes make them interrogate their own worldview.
However, don't ever expect to accomplish this through public debate, which is more about attitude than substance.
Wherein I disclose an exploit in an indie game after the dev ignored me for over 6 months

This Would Be More Professionally Useful If Not For the Furry Art
The people afraid to show their peers or bosses my technical writing because it also contains furry art are some of the dumbest cowards in technology. Considering the recent events at ApeFest, a competitive level of stupidity is quite impressive. To be clear, the exhibited stupidity in question is their tendency to project their own sexual connotations onto furry art…

Unsurprised that a framework named YOLO has remote code execution vulnerabilities
Sex is considered a mature subject, not suitable for children, yet we adults get called immature for drawing dicks. In this essay I will
