    Virtual depictions of rape, sexual abuse, etc, are fictional. I do not conflate them with the real thing, I could not in good conscience equvicoate the actual, real child pornography that I was forced to produce of myself at knifepoint, where I was beaten and raped by a crowd of adult men on camera to random eroguro visual novels. They're different, materially and obviously. But the proliferation of these virtual, fictional works are still an indispensible Part of the Picture, they reflect the reality we exist under and are not wholly separated from actual CSAM. A large part in grooming me into producing this and other pornography of it was in the normalization and veneration of its virtual form, ERPing with older men who would share mountains of lolicon and shota pornography, being made to unironically actually watch boku no pico in full with pedophiles going "he's literally you!" about it.

    Of course, emotionally charged descriptions of child sexual abuse aside, stuff like lolicon is itself culturally downstream of actual CSAM, with many of the earliest "lolicon" works being made in direct reference to existing nude photography of little girls that were in common circulation. (Nymphet: The Myth of the 12 Year Old, Shojo Alice, etc)

    This stuff is not beyond criticism or derision, the line between virtual and actual is continually blurred. This isn't because "fiction = reality" or some other nonsense, but because this fiction exists in a totalizing social context that it cannot actually escape from, which is modeled extensively after reality, and through its totalization, models reality in turn as well.

    It exists firmly within the paradigm of patriarchal suppression and objectification of women, it exists firmly within a totalizing framework it cannot move out from. Porn individually is relatively harmless, mere indulgence into some honestly pretty normal desires that are widely shared among the populace, even if the populace would like to say otherwise. But these desires themselves are engineered from the Totalizing Context they find themselves in, and pornography is a key instrument in shaping those desires BROADLY.

    Consumption and production of pornography is not a "neutral" endeavor, it is obviously possible to consume fiction that comes from bad places without it affecting reality, the consumer clearly has agency in how they consume works. Consuming "immoral" art does not an "immoral" person make. But, fiction does affect reality. Maybe not in the individualized "if you read lolicon you are a pedophile" sense that is Dumb and Wrong, but in the sense that when a media environment is totalizing, it can become impossible for anything to exist beyond the reality that the media environment has engineered. Propaganda only works when it is the Only Thing Present, reality can only really be affected by fiction under the context of that fiction being completely totalizing of all media. This is the problem I have with porn, because I strongly feel that it is totalizing in this way right now.
