With every recent tech bro hype there’s always this emphasis on how you’ll be “left behind” if you don’t invest in their ideas. And each time I’m thinking “YES, please leave me the fuck behind!”. I should have been left behind like three times by now, and still they keep coming back? Can’t even follow up on their threats like normal sociopaths. Pathetic.
I was today years old when I found out LinkedIn has a chronological timeline mode*, and why LinkedIn recommends against enabling it in the settings. Because once you do, you’ll see that people aren’t talking about AI, agents and LLMs anywhere near as much as LinkedIn would have you think. My feed just went from ~90% AI hype to one with only the occasional post on the topic. Almost as if one of the companies most invested in the bubble would use a platform they own to inflate it.
(Could be that it’s an EU-only thing? I remember hearing about an EU requirement like this in the past. If so, I’m sorry if it’s not available to you. The free market will sort it out, I’m sure.)
Someone here on Mastodon once commented that Sam Altman always looks like he just accidentally sharted and is trying to act like he didn’t. I found that funny, but oddly specific, and not likely to be accurate. Then just yesterday TechCrunch did an article about him with this image in it.. and whoever said that, I am sorry, because you were absolutely right.
Just realized I lost my pinned post when moving to a new instance, so here's a new one. See my profile for an #introduction to who I am — what I want to talk about here is the project I've been working on the most recently. That project is #Regal, a linter and a language server for #OPA's policy language #Rego.
What started out as a simple linter is now a complete companion tool for anyone working with Rego, providing developers new to the language a platform for learning, and seasoned developers means to enforce best practices and guardrails around their policies.
If you're working with anything related to OPA and Rego, try it out! If it doesn't help you in your work, that's a bug and I want to know about it. And if there's anything else related to OPA or Rego you want to ask someone about, my DMs are always open for that.
#Bluesky making it their top priority to ensure a dead fascist is treated like a saint IMO validates pretty much every concern folks here have raised about that platform in the past. Happy I stuck around even when it was clear fedi wasn't going to win any popularity contests.
No one is talking about weighted blankets anymore. I guess we’re all sleeping under the massive weight of all the shit that’s been going on since that was a thing.
As I suspected, I was only seeing a fraction of the #Eurovision posts this year, presumably because I’m on a smaller instance than I’ve previously been. Not like I’m moving anywhere for this, but it does make me curious to learn more about how hashtags are aggregated by a server. There are some of those that I do care more about and wouldn’t want to miss in my feed.
(also, I still want notification settings for hashtags!)
The kids not impressed by #Eurovision so far, but staying strong (or at least, awake) for #KAJ. No better song played so far, but we’re about as biased as can be 🇸🇪🇫🇮
