The largest newspaper in Nordics urges today politicians and public institutions to leave X.

However, at the same time it writes that "Europe does not have alternatives to replace [the services of] American technology giants." We on this platform know very well this isn't quite true.

If #Europe would like to move to a more sovereign IT/Internet infrastructure that is not reliant on services provided by American giants, what would be easy, what would be the challenges?

@jimcarroll In 1992 I joined a computer club with the only purpose to get an (internet) email account and an access to Usenet news. They provided an unix shell, but didn't have a permanent internet connection, so messages were exchanged with rest of the Internet just a few times a day. A year later in 1993 I started at the university, and finally got a full internet access, with Gopher, ftp and everything!
