    the challenge is to scan for that mechanically

    it's not so much about expecting the models to be super powerful, it's about an arms race

    in a way it resembles the paradox of an all-powerful deity that is not powerful enough to create a rock that's so heavy that the deity can't move it

    I like the way you frame the fatalism of spam detection. it is another case in which we ultimately can't win, but we can indeed do something about it. just like there are slop detectors out there.

    but at least when it comes to spam (and software virus scanners), the detectors have to be constantly updated

    when it comes to slop, it seems to be even harder. so much so that slop businesses, that need to detect slop in the wild to avoid using it for training to avoid model collapse, are resorting to (invisible) watermarking of outputs, presumably because they couldn't find any other reliable way to (mechanically) detect slop

    one model is set to pursue the goal of generating text that is indistinguishable from human-generated text, while another system (not necessarily a model) is used to detect differences and distinguish between them

    now, assume we have something like the latter, and that it actually works

    the better it is, the better it trains the former at disguising its output so as to avoid detection, to the point that after a short while the latter no longer works

    quando postar alguma coisa lá, deixe sempre incompleto, lembrando o pessoal que o pôste completo está nas plataformas que não nos restringem.

    pode ser tentador colocar links de lá pra cá, mas tenha em conta que as plataformas de lá desvalorizam pôstes com links pra fora, então precisa de formas mais sutis pra redirecionar o pessoal

    comece a planejar e anunciar o fechamento de suas contas do lado de lá, pedindo pro pessoal vir pra onde a gente não é sacaneado se quiser manter contato

    boas vindas pra você e pra quem mais vier por sua causa! 🙂

    mesmo com pesquisas já pondo Lula novamente à frente, precisamos continuar virando votos até o fim.

    a ideia de contrapeso é um argumento para quem não quer muito nem um lado nem o outro: presidente alinhado com o congresso de extrema direita já eleito puxa tudo pra um só lado, inclusive o STF; presidente e congresso em oposição reflete muito melhor o "nem um lado nem o outro".
