I’m not saying the app is bad. The criticism is not about the app itself, rather mildly concerning posts by you i keep seeing. Mildly, so no strong feelings involved here. After all we are talking about a free app that’s still much preferable to Instagram.

So by no means i mean to make this emotionally loaded.

The concern I guess is: loosing that great project because of someone in charge whose ego takes control at some point.

I’m getting worried about #pixelfed.

Raising money without a roadmap - fine.
Lead dev just throwing out ideas for next projects that the money was not for (then deleting the post when there was backlash) - red flag. Also seems like a lot of ego in there.

We should not idealize platforms and people - rather we should look at what we see and ask ourselves if we actually like what is happening.

Especially when it involves one of the biggest projects in the #fediverse.

@dansup please don’t get this the wrong way i love what you are doing. How are you ensuring that pixelfed’s fate does not rely on you being a bro but actually is a structure and organization that steers towards good even if you (hypothetically) had a meltdown, inflating ego or became greedy?

Again, love your work - just seeing more and more posts of yours that seem to put more the spotlight on you than the platform (which is legit, nothing wrong with that).
