I have a question about Mastodon:

I often see posts that go on for quite a while, but when I post I am limited to about 500 (?) characters.

Is the character limit an instance-specific setting? Do you have to be a Special Person to be able to type more?

Centre-left parties the world over seem to be obsessed with betraying their actual constituencies in an attempt to get the votes of people who ARE NEVER EVER GOING TO VOTE FOR THEM. And no matter how many times this strategy utterly fails, they'll just try again and again.
