@jwildeboer I was on Bluesky last year. I ended up leaving; however, one thing I liked is they will pin identity onto a domain you control. I don't see why Mastodon couldn't do that as well. Oh my, that would be a painful migration. Anyhoo: https://bsky.social/about/blog/4-28-2023-domain-handle-tutorial
@taylan I imagine that there are rooms full of people that prod and push identity politics freakout threads with glee as they watch any possible progress and forward motion disintegrate. Oh... it doesn't mean completely independent folks don't do it by themselves by calling out whatever perceived identity diff they care to grab onto and have their 2 minute hate; however, I'd wager there is a bit of outside push as well. And AI pushing these threads? A superweapon.
I am not sad. I'm not depressed. I lived through a time that is quite likely the most interesting time for humans on this planet. I admit that I would like to know what it would be like to be part of a culture that placed their hands on Chauvet caves for 5,000 years. That would be slow time. I see the outrage. I know the reasons. I'm not oblivious. Plus, I have something to create that I think is useful, so all good. I have "loved everything there was here". https://youtu.be/0Wu0oeRIu-M
OK. Can we agree that fossil fuels are at the core of almost everything? If you disagree, let's pause here on our object. We good? OK, consider the subject as the Medical Industrial Complex. Virtually everything maps right over to the feedstock flow. Profit and degradation of the biosphere come out of this triple of "medical industrial complex"-"requires"-"fossil fuels". Now, consider the stance that advanced medical care is the right of every human. Complicated. https://leavingevidence.wordpress.com/2015/02/06/medical-industrial-complex-visual/
#CharlesSandersPeirce wrote with knowing irony "How to Make Our Ideas Clear". The key point is that humans can work in threes. I can give you two ideas and offer a relationship, and we can make pragmatic progress in collaborative understanding. Of course, Peirce had three kinds of threes, and he shifted meaning over his life, but his root idea is sound. Let's start with an object of fossil fuel flow. Most everything comes from this. Will you read in detail?
