@BorrisInABox My external power bank always, and I do mean always, wants my laptop to charge it, not the other way around. Apparently by means of a complicated ritual of pressing the singular button it has, combined with unplugging and plugging it back in as if you were trying to reset a GE smart light bulb, you're supposed to be able to reverse that situation, but I have never gotten it to work. So... uh... thanks. I guess. Really useful. lol

I know there’s no good answer to the hashtag problem. If you’re running a very small instance, chances are you might get overwhelmed with too many posts if hashtags were federated more liberally. But on the other hand, you don’t actually know you’re missing out from a usability point of view if you search for a hashtag on your instance, especially if the instance is small. Like I don’t know about you, but to me that’s not great user experience. I bet a lot of people don’t know this happens and are confused as to why their favorite hashtags are so quiet, when they might not be.

Something I’ve been pondering. One of the biggest advice you get on the Fediverse is to use Hashtags in your posts. But hashtags don’t federate unless the posts do, so if you’re on a small or single user instance, hashtags won’t do much for you. If I search for #SomeHashtag I will get a completely different set of posts than a bigger instance like mastodon.social might. If you have a hashtag for your AMA for example, or for your show, or your research, simply using a hashtag won't help and you're much more likely to get responses from big instances. Even if someone on mastodon.social posts with #SomeHashtag, as long as nobody from the cave is following them, we won't get it. We used to use fedibuzz to kinda get around this, but that no longer works. Am I the only one who thinks this is very unfortunate and makes using hashtags to organize quite a lot less useful? How many people even know this is how it works? Do I even have it correct?

How does literally anybody make sense of CSS and styling on the web? Tell me you know exactly how styles are going to work out before you run them and I won't believe you.

I've noticed that quite a few people I interact with recently seem to get slightly uncomfortable when they use seeing-related phrases around me, or when I use them. If you're not sure about this yourself, I'd argue please continue doing so. See you later, or let's see, or I'll take a look, in my opinion, are perfectly normal expressions to use and I also use them a lot. I'm not sure what good alternatives would look like (hehe) that don't sound forced or unnatural. It's really fine.

And I know I've said this many times before, but I can't repeat this enough. It feels beyond empowering that the game doesn't try to water down the experience if you don't want it to. It asks hey, this is what I can do, what do you need? And no matter what you answer, it has your back. It's wild. It doesn't force any of the assists on you if you don't want them.
Of course, the more I play, the longer my wishlist of features grows. But they did what they could, and it's more than enough to sink literal weeks into this game by now. Seriously I'm so very happy we finally have something like this and that some manager or other higher up couldn't stop them from doing it.

You know, I wonder when, if ever, I'll get bored or tired of Forza. I remember saying that I can't remember having this much fun with a game in recent times, but the longer this goes on the more I'm convinced that it's not just recent times, it's... uh... kind of ever?
Like compared to a sighted player I might not be very good but I also haven't really tried.
So yeah I dunno for me, the simple fact that people cared about accessibility for this game completely changed what I do with my free time ever since this game released. And I don't think it'll change anytime soon.
So if you're a game dev, consider accessibility. You might make a bigger impact on someone than you realize.

This morning, someone called my dad in my name and started asking questions, using what we believe to be AI voice cloning. Be mindful and tell those close to you to be mindful as well. Figure out a way to ID yourself. This tech is quite dangerous and it is being used for evil. Who would've thought.
