@cryptgoat @Jonas i wish it wasn't true, but this has been true in my experience, too.

i've been concerned about signal's centralization and stance on this issue for years, but i have still found it to be the least bad option so far. it doesn't help that i use signal for calls with friends/family, too, as some popular alternatives don't support that at all.

@nixCraft while there isn't any direct evidence that aosp is coming to an end, the conclusion is understandable as google slowly and quietly reduces its openness, transparency, and contributor engagement, all of which already left something to be desired. and the tech press is largely letting them get away with it.
