If you don't carry with a round in the chamber, you're a fool. An attacker isn't going to respect your request to halt for a moment so you can chamber a round.

@realcaseyrollins Not really. The most effective safety is to keep your booger hook off of the bang switch until you're ready to fire.

If a handgun is designed properly (like basically every modern pistol besides the P320), carrying with a round in the chamber is as safe as carrying without a round in the chamber since the round is completely inert unless you press the trigger.
