My brain is still struggling to unlearn the years of algorithmic social media. I had become fearful of “liking” anything or following anyone, because it would skew my timeline.
Goodness, Mastodon (and the Fediverse in general) is refreshing 😌

@_elena I personally wouldn’t bother. I have my website in all my bios, and a contact page prominent on there with the links I want folks to have. I also have a /hello page for socials (kind of like a self-hosted linktree)
Long story short, don’t reactivate your accounts, because it reinforces their idea that they’re indispensable. Just make it impossibly easy to find you on the broader web
Okay #Fediverse, I have another question for you. I would very much like to extricate myself from Squarespace and move my website(s) to something more self-hosted, where I could hopefully even host a small database and have other publicly-accessible assets. Where should I be looking? I am a total novice at site building, but I’m handy with code and not afraid of failure 😅
