@benroyce @paparatti The entire system is already bloated to the core, waiting for things to play out and course correct in the long term is hurting everyday people the more we do it.

@benroyce @paparatti Who said don't go after TikTok? What standards have we lowered ourselves to that we can't even get comprehensive and well-informed laws proposed to begin with? The only bipartisanship we see IS driven by fear, but external and not internal. Partisanship leans further into greed and fear and hate every day, even if just takes the form of angry rants on the internet. We're better than this.

@benroyce @paparatti Not nebulous, 2 million people were making a living on an app that got banned because it doesn't suppress activism as much as the platforms at home.

Of course they can't say that, so they ban or force a sale without a real described understanding of why they're afraid, other than "foreign scary". This isn't the NSA, these are legislatures that don't know how wifi works.

Meanwhile, other governments actually ARE in our phone systems and infrastructure. We need to fix THAT.
