A united front is a good idea. However, it is predicated on some kind of unity against fascism.

The centrist parties in Weimar Germany voted for the Enabling Act themselves. They had no principles against fascism, and were perfectly willing to enable fascism in order to advance parliamentary compromise.

In order for me to endorse a united front, I need to see indications that the center right faction actually opposes MAGA talking points on transgender people and immigration fervently and passionately. I haven't seen it this far.

Bernie and AOC understand fascism decently for US politicians. Hakeem Jefferies? Not so much.

AOC is not a revolutionary politician.
Bernie Sanders is not a revolutionary politician.

They are moderate social democratic politicians, and the fact that they are the "far left" is actually sad.

No, AOC and Sanders aren't going to construct socialism or liberate Palestine or whatever your communist ideal is.

They are of the most right wing, moderate, reformist, and market oriented wing of socialism there is in the United States.

What they will do is make things slightly better for workers, stand up to fascism in a way centrists refuse to do, and maybe pay lip service to a couple of socialist ideas. That's the best America's political system will give us. We have to do the rest.

I'm not saying "solve classism first". What I am saying is that racism is compounded by classism in many respects.

I would go as far to argue that racism is an integral part of the ideology of the ruling class, and is an implicit value of the capitalist system.

The general problem with the media is that it is owned by a non representative elite that has no understanding of the needs of average people. This distorts the coverage and framing that is used to describe the current events happening in our society.

In general, it's not just a problem of racism. It's a class issue as well.

Classism often compounds racism and fuels racism in practice.

Centrist apathy is a crucial part of the historical process that allows fascism to emerge, and voting for centrist politicians is essentially a way to slow down fascism temporarily while doing essentially nothing to reduce the body count in the long run.

The solution to fascism is either a social-democratic united front or a revolutionary movement capable of providing a meaningful alternative. That is the only way to "reduce the body count" effectively.

Otherwise, you get a repeated set of "centrist vs Nazi" elections during an ever intensifying poly crisis that become closer and closer and closer until the fascists get a thin enough plurality to win. Then the fascists take over, and a shitton of people die.

The "hunger chancellor" didn't save Europe from Hitler.

The Nordic Countries didn't just miraculously avoid fascism, and they didn't become social-democratic over night. It took a united front during the great depression to see that giving people actual fucking solutions would prevent a Nazi takeover.

This isn't just me being an ungrateful bastard who wants to cause accelerationism. This is a strategic understanding to ignore at your peril.

The choice is between progressivism and fascism. Centrism during fascism is like standing on a treadmill.

Putin isn't "bringing back the USSR". He isn't "denazifying Ukraine".

He is a fascist ultranationalist whose only loyalty is to Russian hegemony and the profits of the Russian capitalists who tyrannize Eastern Europe.

Simping for Putin is actually anti-socialist, imperialist, and militarist.

I oppose fascism, and some people might pose a simple question to me, "Why?"

The reason I oppose fascism is because I see it as the political incarnation of death. The victory of fascism is the end of free thought, socioeconomic justice, and potentially human joy itself. All of these things are either directly punished by the fascists (historically with death), or distorted by fascists for use in the ultranationalist worship of the fascist state.

The purpose of human life, in my view, is the mental, physical, and social enrichment of human beings. People should have the right to freely pursue the course of action that they believe will make them the happiest and most accomplished individuals, without fear of oppression or destitution. It is my belief that people fundamentally have a drive towards self-improvement, connection with their fellow human beings, and the expansion of their knowledge of the universe.

The goal of anti-fascism should not be seen as a one dimensional opposition to fascism. Anti-fascism is the movement which seeks to defend freedom and socioeconomic justice from those who seek to destroy it, and create a society on the basis of those principles.

When the only choices in a political system are the lesser evil and the greater evil, the greater evil will inevitably win.

Defeating fascism requires a set of policies that empower the people, give them genuine optimism for the future, and alleviate the effects of the crisis that fascists rely on to gain power. That's why the New Deal worked, and Weimar Germany's policy of austerity did not.

The ACLU is not a perfect organization, but they are some of the most steadfast protectors of internet freedom and transgender rights.

I believe the ACLU to be an important organization in our society that does much good for people.
