I would argue that trans issues are a women's rights issue. Not only because there are trans women, but because transphobia is a cornerstone of the policies of the worst sexists in power today.

It's easier to oppress women and to keep them subjugated when you enact a legal precedent that encodes the supremacy of men over women into law, and creates a legal category of sex that is directly analogous to racial laws throughout history (apartheid South Africa, Nazi Germany, Jim Crow USA)

The right of the people to self defense is an essential element of antifascism. Fascism relies on the inability of its victims to shoot back.
