@bmacDonald94 So very true. I have seen many people try to articulate this, and I think it’s the essence of Buddhism in some ways … we put pressure on ourselves not to feel and be whatever we are at a given moment. In the west especially, we think ecstasy is the goal rather than things like contentment and acceptance.
"The point of Squid Game is not to explain to us that “capitalism is bad,” but rather this: we already know, all too well, that capitalism is bad, but we keep returning to a dire, money-obsessed system, morphing into characters that consciously choose, game after game, to participate in our (and one another’s) demise."
This kind of stuff amazes me. All kinds of things are legal in one state but not another. Isn’t that the whole point of “giving it back to the states”? Oh, yeah … it’s never what they say it is.
I gave thinking we’d see some splashy and creative uses of the money. Perhaps to get some actual news out as @pluralistic suggested. I didn’t see any of that happen, I have to say. It ends up looking like raising money just to raise money.
Well, I am glad to see Trump is a three-time loser of the popular vote after all. Because I know that’s what rankles him the most. He wants so badly to be popular. But he never is.
"Since Feinberg is at least the ninth billionaire overall that Trump has chosen for this term so far, that means that more than 1% of all American billionaires are directly plugged into Trump's government."
"“Our National Assembly has become a haven for criminals, a den of legislative dictatorship that seeks to paralyse the judicial and administrative systems"
“Neither victims nor executioners.”Addressing the void and listening for echoes. Tired, scared, disgusted … you know, alive in the 2020s.I think out loud, which can be annoying. Prone to swearing. Somewhat addicted to apocalypses. LGBTQ+ rights are human rights. Black lives matter. AI is inherently awful. There’s only one planet. Science FTW. There are many problems, but billionaires make them all worse. Screw the broligarchy. Woody Guthrie forever. Follow the golden rule.
