I finally managed to read @tante's excellent article:
AI is a Fascist Artifact
It has almost all the points that are on my mind as well regarding these systems, and a few more. Great overview read about "AI" as a political project.

One of the weirder US things (that's not a super serious issue) is blue-bubble pressure.
I can't personally tell how big a deal this really is but I hear about it a lot so I guess it is to some people at least.
This is not a thing in Europe, like at all.
Another app replacement I'm looking for: Quick Draft (iOS), but I want an Android equivalent
It's a text editor with just one buffer. You launch it and it immediately opens the one text document that it has. There's no saving with filenames or anything. It just persists that one plain text buffer.
I use this a lot to draft longer messages without accidentally sending them halfway through.
you can anonymize the link by removing the part of the link after the “?”
(at least for youtube currently, this can be different on other platforms and may also change in the future)
You REALLY should remove the tracking codes from Youtube links now.
They started showing a popup about who sent the link and offering a (maybe new) DM feature, potentially revealing your personal account name to anyone who opens the link.
Behold! The zombie stick!
(it's for applying spray varnish to them in bulk)
Cameras ...
The first one is always cheap or even a gift (the Praktica in my case), and then they got you.
(this is the result of 27 years of acquiring and also reselling gear)
a lesbian on a cargo bike …
a cargo dyke, if you will
I went to see butterflies this week and brought a macro lens.

Every single time I try posting a little more on here again, stuff like this happens and I remember why I spend my time elsewhere (namely bluesky). I really with it wasn't like this but it is.
Sure, I can mute, block, and report but there's always more. It never ends.
The Fediverse has a massive toxic-masculinity problem and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
As a woman on the Fediverse you can't even post a picture of an inanimate object, e.g. a bicycle, that does not contain yourself at all, without having men going out of their way to comment on your appearance.
I hate this screen so much: the waiting room display in Berlin’s Bürgeramt offices (where you file for new passports, IDs, etc)
It looks terrible and I didn’t push back enough when it was designed over a decade ago and it’s probably the most-used piece of software I ever built.
In recent discussions with cis people I always said “some women” instead of explicitly referring to “trans women” so it becomes more obviously ridiculous when they start saying “biological men”.
“So you’re saying some women are biological men?” usually hits them in an unexpected spot.
The Fediverse is where the friendly and civil conversations happen, unlike every other platform where the stinky bad people hang out.
Molotov cocktails are just the technological reality now. You can adapt your workflows to them or get left behind.
At my company every employee has to use at least one per day. It’s a vibrant and competitive field full of potential.
Humans are a fundamentally social species.
Generative “AI” is a fundamentally anti-social technology, as its whole purpose is to abstract social relations away.
It is therefore an anti-human technology.
Helping people move house after a lot of strength training is so funny.
They look at you like some sort of mutant when you carry two of their “heavy” boxes at once.
@vyllenjamnin @jacqueline they really aren't "just tools". This analogy is just wrong and extremely misleading.
They are services provided by an organization that have politics embedded into them.
A pen doesn't influence WHAT you're writing. An LLM's training process, which is controlled and managed by people with certain politics, very much influences what it's output will be.
1995 is closer to 1965 than to now.
You’re welcome
Funny how "AI" advocates are always like "yeah but if we ignore the negatives for a moment ..."
That's fiction then. I might as well talk about how great fossil fuels are assuming they don't have any negative effects on the Earth's climate.
And you're free to write fiction, but don't try to sell it to me as real.
