She reminds me more of the gluttonous Roman at the banquet table in Fellini’s “Satyricon,” who whispers in an aside while listening to a declamation of an Aeschylus play, “I love to hear the sound of Greek while I’m eating.”

I would just interject that grift (and its accompanying cluelessness) are the characteristic of our age here in Ummurrika—as is the induced narcissism that a fortuitous isolation from history can provide the undereducated pilotfish of capitalism. BW ain’t the worst, but her kind are very likely to be some of the first casualties of the coming unpleasantness, if only because they won’t see it coming.

I don’t begrudge clever people their financial successes, nor their simple pleasures, but their casual cluelessness sometimes leaves me shaking my head. (I still pray that the advance guard of the coming apocalypse runs out of lampposts and rope before they get to her.)

@GottaLaff Stalin actually purged all his supposedly ideologically unreliable generals in the Большой терроp of 1937. Then in 1941-42, the Nazis got all the way to Moscow before the great moron managed to rehabilitate a survivor, Georgii Zhukov, who saved his ass. Moral of this story: History may not repeat itself, but beware, MAGA jerkoffs, it DOES rhyme.
