I just set up a SpaceHey: https://spacehey.com/sarajw
I love it exists. I remember joking about MyFace and SpaceBook or MyBook or SpaceFace and well, here it is.
It's not really set up yet. Needs tinkering. Add me!

Ooof just love that feeling of generalised stress without being able to pinpoint where it's coming from
Hello friends and users of @eleventy 🎈
Having seen a few curious non-developer beginners get far enough to launch the 11ty base blog, then find themselves a little disappointed by very few preset customisation options, I thought I would try to kickstart CSS themes made specifically for the base blog.
There are only two custom themes there so far, which are very rudimentary! We need moooorrrreeeee - please submit :D
Presenting: 11ty Themes Joy

Oh no, F U COVID 👿
Finding it difficult to avoid FOUC-ing up (Flash Of Unstyled Content) when switching out or adding in a linked stylesheet to the head via JS.
I thought normal JS scripts in the head would block render - and I suppose they do but then there's still a split second or more of no stylesheet while the switch is taking place and it rerenders.
Is there a way to make it less flashy without resorting to hacks like making html/body invisible until the last line of CSS is parsed?
@charliepark @inthehands just butting in to say if you want to carry an adult, best check the weight allowance of the bike. Sometimes they say how much load can go where, or they give a maximum weight of the whole thing.
I guess if you're looking to carry an adult passenger, you intend them to straddle the back, not sit in a cargo bucket on the front?
@binarydigit @frills LOL so I just tried but every colour theme combo I just tried ended up looking like one I already have in the switcher, hahaha. I'm just perma-spoopy
@binarydigit @frills oh gah you're both too cool! Now I wanna...
@binarydigit are you able to get anything you like with .net on the end?

No shade if you don't want to be available to search :)
However, it's likely that some people don't know it's opt-in.

@inthehands @mainec oh totally agreeeeee
I have learned so much social good from the internet, and I think the younger generations are also more open minded and free of a lot of traditional societal bullshit because of it.
But while I love that I have been able to find *my* people, those of like mind, we have similar feelings and problems and loves and values - well, everyone else gets to do that too. And some of those people have very different values - some even harmful "values" - to mine.
@mainec @inthehands Huh. Right.
The way I see it right now is that we can still only really handle so many meaningful social connections - and trying to do more means something has to give.
Either we end up with hundreds of connections but struggle to deepen any of them into true friendships (hi, it me) and/or we find a narrow social niche online that makes us feel at home (also me).
The real problem here is that some people feel at home in very dangerous company, and can find it easily now.
On getting stuff done - the context is talking about young people swanning in with computers, copying files, and making things better without permission.
Talking about dealing with people who always say no the first time:
(I love her)
Oh! I've just watched the first 5 mins, definitely going to watch it all. She's legit already funny.
Oh nice. She was about to go into talking about planning good infrastructure for the upcoming computer information networks - and decided to make an analogy as to how the car boom lead to the US forgetting about other transportation, like rail.
Yep yep yep.
She's since gone into the value of information, how some ("the chemical plant is about to explode unless you shut part N down") is more valuable than other ("Jim worked 2 hours of overtime"), and how costly incorrect information can be.
She used the example of a personnel database and how incorrect information could lead to negative outcomes for people, who have a right to sue over it.
I can't help but extrapolate to *mis*information, wilfully incorrect information that can have extreme costs.
She's my new hero.
No wordle I don't really think that's a real word
