With #facebook, #tiktok and #musktwitter all saturating the news, it's a relief that #mastodon / #fediverse is not a household-name style mainstream outlet. There are two ways a platform can #enshittify : one is when *everyone* joins it, stupefying and ruining it that way; the other is when its owners gradually degrade its services, ruining it for profit.

It's really astonishing that very few outlets of any kind - mainstream or otherwise - are looking into the very solid evidence presented here.

So the feds have finally realized - with Beijing's #SaltTyphoon hack - that if you have a backdoor to #encryption for the good guys, the bad guys will get in as well. It's about time. They brought it on themselves with #CALEA.
