Ads harm the web: they slow it down, invade privacy, manipulate behavior, and even spread malware (malvertising).
Removing ads from the web is the way forward.
Kagi will actively down-rank sites with lots of ads and trackers in the results and promote sites with little or no advertising.
Unlike other Map services that track your location to serve you ads, Kagi does not track or store your search history or location data 🗺️

We're excited to add a new section for comics on Kagi's Small Web initiative: https://kagi.com/smallweb/?comic
The small web represents a return to the internet's roots - a space of personal expression, creativity, and community-driven content. Adding webcomics to this curation seemed natural.
Here's where & how to contribute: https://github.com/kagisearch/smallweb/tree/main#add-a-site-or-channel-to-the-list
"Kagi looking pretty good right now, literally every page works without JavaScript, including settings" - @chris_hayes, beloved Kagi member 💛

"Working with Kagi, I quickly found that I could zero in on the type of information I was searching for."
"Over time, as we become comfortable with the ways by which we might generate knowledge, we should always be aware that there are always new and more powerful ways to do that."
Great post and review of Kagi from @jimcarroll! 👇

It seems the feature that Kagi users on Mastodon seemed most excited about in 2024 is the AI image filter for search results:

Google is required to include any search engine that meets specific criteria, such as having an app with over 5,000 installs, in the default list for Android and Chrome.
We'd love it if you install the Kagi app and help us meet the criteria! We're almost there:

@deutrino We try our best to keep costs accessible and fair, and discounts are difficult at our current rate (~34.5K members) while remaining sustainable. Since Kagi has no ads or VC funding to subsidize the cost, that means that existing Kagi users would have to pay for other users to receive discounts. That mechanism already exists through the 'Gift Kagi' feature.
With any formalized discounts, it's currently not possible because we're not making sufficient profit to discount it off from.
@deutrino If it can be done sustainably it will definitely be considered! Everyone deserves to have access to a search engine that has their best interest in mind, not just those who can pay for it.
Did you know that you can share your search results with anyone, even those who aren't Kagi users yet?
This can help others experience the difference in quality and relevance that Kagi offers, if words aren't enough to describe it 👇
