Well, if meta's involvement isn't a strong enough reason to be suspicious, the foundation's mission statement literally mentions making the whole thing "financially viable"

I mean, I'm already donating to the foundation that runs my home instance. Sounds to me like you're already there then? As in, that was always an option?You did lose me at "advertising" though. With how intrusive and downright disgusting internet advertising has become, I can hardly cheer on that. You can call me out on slippery slope, but unfortunately you're the one happily sailing under one banner with meta, and I'd sooner trust a rabid wolf with a small child than meta to be ethical about privacy and advertising.

Especially with the kind of folks that are onboard from the start
