This morning, in the supermarket parking lot. Elder woman with 1/2 gallon of milk visible through a store-branded plastic bag is walking with great effort towards the entrance. A college guy on his way to his car with a small bag says something to the woman who stops, smiles and hands him the bag. He offers his arm and walks her into the store at her pace and dirty-looks a driver who tries to scoot past in front of them. Was she returning bad milk? A small kindness.

Just read about Mayfield. It's a regional brand. Parts of TN/GA/SC/NC +? Two dairy farms suppply the milk from "Happy Cows."

Their products are just the best. Milk, ice cream, and I like the sour cream, too. Better than Breakstone's which *was my favorite for years. :)

I was there, and "the gays" traded VHS copies of this scene and others and held watch parties of Julia Sugarbaker's most fierce rants. She was an ally. ❤️

Two programs I've watched this week discussed food as a bridge between US cultures in conflict with each other.

In "Can Food Help Appalachia Heal & Recover," Valerie Horn, Director of Cowan (KY) Community Center was interviewed, after the floods in East Kentucky in 2022.
