@wiseguyeddie@notroot I wish I were in a state to say anything useful and not bitter. There never were any goalposts. They’re pretty paintings on distant walls that everyone who’s not already rich and white is supposed to run towards until we smash our faces if we somehow even get close.
Drop off mail ballots or vote in person. If you are not registered, you can register and vote on the same day.
The 13th, 22nd, 27th, 41st, and 45th congressional district races are close! If you live in one of these, your vote really counts.
As usual, we have loads of ballot propositions. I recommend https://peterates.com for information about state propositions. (Lots of good info there, even if you don’t agree with Pete’s takes.) Check local guides for city and county ballot measures.
If anyone has questions about voting in California, feel free to message me.
If any Oaklanders need to find my polling place (at Mills College; and yes we’re confusing to find), see below. Thanks to everyone who has already come in to vote!
I’m seeing a lot of pictures from #Threads accounts posted with autogenerated #AltText that is literally worse than nothing. The text will read something like, “Photo by [username] on [date]. May be a meme with one person and text.” (I say this is worse than nothing because (a) “May be a meme” is just hilariously bad and (b) it constantly credits photos to people who clearly didn’t take them.) Is this something that Threads just … does?
Aussie living in California. I write words and sometimes draw arts. The profile pic is a digital color drawing (by me) of a blue-skinned goblin with a big nose, pointy teeth and ears, and long braided purple hair. He has a big smile and is wearing a gold earring in one ear.The banner is a photo I took of my polling place, in the student union building at Mills College in Oakland.
