I have just mass denied a whole metric shitload of requested followers. I doubt any of them will see this post though, because they're all suffering and don't seem to interact with anyone that doesn't interact with them first. Or else they mass spam people that they don't follow asking for help.

But, in case some of them DO actually look at other people's accounts, I'm going to explain why, and I'm going to pin it so that it can be ignored in the future.

I am not heartless. But I do have a limited capacity for an emotional burden that I cannot do anything about. I am broke. I refuse to fill my feed with posts that remind the rest of the world that there is a genocide currently happening. Everyone already knows. That nothing is stopping it should indicate that none of us carry that kind of power.

Multiple genocides, actually, I'm pretty sure, depending on how you define genocide.

I follow a lot of people and many of them also need help. Regularly. I boost their posts because they interact with the rest of the world, and I try not to overburden my own followers with other people's requests for help. My feed is more than that. And I'm not going to chase away my followers by exclusively posting that stuff.

If I accept every follower request from people demanding my attention (and money), my feed would literally be nothing else.

The world is an awful place right now. EVERYWHERE is an awful place right now. And while I empathize with your plight, there is literally nothing that I can do about it. I vote with you in mind. I pressure my politicians to do the right thing.

I am often ignored. Much how many of you ignore all of the people that you follow (but request money from).

And not to put too fine a point on it, but posting pictures of your kids or of atrocity...yes, it pisses me off. But it doesn't piss me off enough to sell a kidney so that I can donate to your cause. Literally making me sad does nothing more than make me sad. It does not prompt me to spread that sadness around. My followers already know. They ALSO can't do a goddamned thing about it.

I do not know how to fix the world. I do not have the money to fix the world. My followers do not have the money to fix the world. And while some of them think that they know how to fix the world, they are *often* wrong. And ultimately, NONE of us have any power. None at all. Yes, we are in "better situations" than yourself, but only marginally - and fascism will be coming for us too, it's only a matter of time.

So, I am sorry. I'm sorry that you're struggling. I'm sorry that I've had to deny the requests. I do not have the capacity to shoulder your emotional burden, especially when your interactions are limited to a megaphone demanding help that we cannot give.

That *might* make me a bad person. In which case, you probably shouldn't follow me anyway.

Because they learned from the late 1940's that they won't lose anything by supporting them. They will roll over because it's easy, and when the chips fall, if the fascists win, it's better for them to have a good relationship. By the same token, the public will never ever hold them accountable, regardless of who wins or loses.

Nobody here cares if they lose your money. Five minutes to lunch? Come back in two hours. Or don't. They don't care.

Having spent the last 3 decades killing myself for the tiniest profit, it's refreshing to be someplace where people don't have to do that.

@Susan60 One other thing that I appreciate is that things aren't open 24 hours.

If it's 11pm and you're out of milk, you literally *can't* leave the house to get more. There's no place to buy it. Same for hardware stores and everything else.

This sucks when I'm out of smokes, but 1) it forces me to plan ahead for those things and 2) it *allows* me to take a fucking break once in awhile.

Statements like this assume a LOT.

Assuming a Dem ever has the opportunity. Assuming that SCOTUS doesn't suddenly change their interpretation. Assuming the Dem doesn't take the 'high road'. Assuming that the Dem has a supporting House and Senate. Assuming that a Dem moves swiftly instead of lining up promises for 'next term'.

And this all assumes that Progressives and centrists are on the same sheet of music AND that they bother to vote, assuming, of course, that they will be permitted to.

Am I missing any assumptions here?

I'd save the channel at least. It was a difyerent Live feed than the one last night, so if this,one goes away, the channel should keep posting new ones as needed (I would think)
