is there a Linux OS that needs less resources than Lubuntu and is similarly easy to install and use? my dad's laptop doesn't like the new Lubuntu -

@kaia Debian GNU/Linux is your best choice. No more ubuntu stuff and having a clean OS yet easier to use than ubuntu.

@kaia https://distrowatch.com/search.php Yes, maintained? Fewer. Depends on what choked Lubuntu? "mate" on mint is actually "comfy" without being to bloted, IMHO, but it's still bloated... so I'd say.... try linux mint xfce iso? see how it goes? kaia likes this. -

@raccoon @kaia it might not be easy to install ig like you have to know how to use a computer.
xubuntu maybe? it's like ubuntu with xfce4 it's quite lightweight for being user-friendly afaikIn conversation permalink kaia likes this. -

@kaia@brotka.st So far the lightest distro I know is antiX.
And what about some other distros that ship with LXQt just as Lubuntu? Fedora is known from shipping mostly vanilla desktop environments. In conversation permalink kaia likes this. -

@kaia I have found that Debian usually offers a decent user experience with fewer resources than *buntu distros.
Depending on the hardware, of course.
2 Gigs of RAM might be a little light for Debian, but I'd still give it a shot.

@kaia The OS can be as light as a feather, but it can never make up for browsers trying their best to run tons and tons of JavaScript IMO.
At risk of sounding like a broken record, I would try Mint.In conversation permalink kaia likes this.
