I love how Apple touts "security" and "stability" with the App Store, whiteknighting against the dangers of "sideloading" as I install a new app for the first time that immediately crashes upon launch. Love that review process.

@GossiTheDog I remember them trying to peddle 3D avatars for Teams back in 2020 or so and thought the feature never shipped (for obvious reasons lol). Is this the same thing again?

@nikitonsky If you re-read what I said, I stated that icons are universally understood without the need for translation.

@nikitonsky I kind of disagree with this. Icons are language-agnostic, and means less localization/translation needs to be done. It makes the menus more accessible. This is one case where I think Apple in the 90s was just wrong..

@cjust As a Millennial who has never had a TikTok account and who does read articles, I can't relate, but I do get the sentiment because I know plenty of people my age who succumbed to brainrot.

@tokyo_0 Technically they are simply various applied settings, but to find them and hunt them all down in Firefox + set them the way LibreWolf has them predefined is quite a pain. Basically LibreWolf comes much more hardened out of the box with most of Mozilla's bloatware outright gone.

@neil Or, articles about this that totally get it wrong (i.e., written by a neurotypical who has no insight, experience, or knowledge of the neurodivergent experience aside from taking sheer guesses). I see more of those than anything else.
