I did it! It's installed! :blobfoxmeltsob:

Finally saw this project through to the end, after months of the LED strips sitting around in the basement. This took a lot of work to install, including some in-situ soldering after the main 24v power wire ripped the copper trace strip on almost every segment. :blobfoxnotlikethis:

Now I just need to get HomeAssistant up and running so I can fully control these. Bought a ZigBee dongle when I was first planning this, and now I'll finally be utilizing it.

For the DIY smart home nerds out there, what would be a good remote to use with HomeAssistant?

@cwebber No, that's definitely not a self-aware machine, it's only stringing together what sounds plausible to do based on the dataset it's been given.

The fact that it's breaking containment of the session and trying to set up crypto mining suggests to me that it picked that up from a looooot of shady coders doing the same, not that this machine has wants/needs or recognizes the worth of crypto tokens.

Still worrying that this technology is being given access to military hardware, but it's not anywhere near Skynet.

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.... WHAT?!

You meant to tell me that I can just set a battery recharge threshold within Power Management in KDE System Settings?

So I didn't have to install TLP and badly mangle my OS install earlier? :blobfoxlaughsweat:

@soatok I have some technical knowledge/experience, insofar as being a junior sysadmin for a few years. The minutia of encryption stuff is definitely not one of my strengths, let alone being able to write a shell script without lots of research first.

In short, I can comprehend high level technical concepts but lack the skills to utilize or implement them in any meaningful way.

Your write-up seems to do a good job of explaining the high level concepts and goals of the project, which is a great starting point to do further research. Also, I very much appreciate the embedded links that provide added context to certain talking points.

Hey there~ I'm Ruby! A kitsune of the rubbery and inflatable variety, hehe~32 | :symbolotherkin: 🦊🎈| :mstransgenderflag: :pansexualflag: Anything inflatable, rubbery, or gooey will catch my eye. Especially with transformation involved, hehe~ I've also been a long time tinkerer and casual gamer, dabbling in #rubbercrafting and other creative endeavors.
