where does the phrase "use it as my daily driver" when referring to linux distros come from? as in "i've been using arch as my daily driver for years btw." i dunno i just keep hearing it around and it sounds kinda weird to me. like we have device drivers? we drive things like cars? it is a reference to personal limo drivers or something? anyone know?

here's my #introduction i'm josh aka @phocks and i run this single-user mastodon server on a linux container at home. i'm a developer for abc news. i'm a husband and father. i play in a band called velociraptor. i'm an elder millennial (xennial). i'm into linux sysadmin, software development, music, movies, video games, etc, and being nice to animals (vegan). this instance is just for all my edgy posts, a bit of animal rights stuff, and just general mucking around. feel free to boost. peace ☮️✌️
