He doesn't say it has no right to exist.

He is correct in that the state Israel started as a European settler colonial project. Because people later moved there from places other than Europe doesn't change that fact.

But we won't because that's silly.

The difference is some Palestinians who were ethnically cleansed in 1948 are still alive. Palestinians refugees have not been allowed to return to their homes and land. And the continued ethnic cleansing (stealing of land and resources) is still very much a current project.
