@jwildeboer on my new hire orientation after the dinner one guy went missing and another woke with blood all over his clothes on a bench at the other side of Munich. Even after 14 years I remember who was with me at the NHO, memories for lifetime. 😄

Fellow #bikers, do you have any experience with winter tires? Are they worth it? Any recommendations (both spike and spikeless)? I'd like to maintain my #biketowork throughout the winter for the first time.

@fiery @h3artbl33d You want to run an app that needs access to your home and you don't like it, so maybe, only maybe you shouldn't use the app in the first place? 🤔

@h3artbl33d Man, it takes like a minute to check that the first argument doesn't apply any more. GNOME Software warns you that Octave has full access to your home. And if you don't like it, you can disable the access (but most likely crippling the app). Not sure if the other argument applies. It's about old CVEs in runtimes which have been long EOL. 🤷♂️

#GNOME Papers finally becomes a PDF viewer that can digitally sign documents and verify signatures.

The latter was implemented by Marek Kašík from our team. It was several years in the making. He originally implemented it for Evince, but Evince is pretty much dead and it's been waiting to be merged upstream for 1.5 years. When Papers were forked from Evince, Marek rewrote it in #Rust and implemented it there. It's currently under review and should be merged soon. ✌️

I had a talk called "Unbreakable Linux for Entire Family" today. It had nothing to do with Oracle #Linux, it was about concepts and approaches around #Fedora #Silverblue to make a truly free ChromeOS-like system for friends and family.
I was happy to have a full room of people. It's good to see #OpenAlt bouncing back in terms of attendance.

#HDR on #Linux is becoming a reality! I've even got it working on #AsahiLinux via waylandvk. The thing is, if you try to capture HDR in a non-HDR screenshot, the effect is mostly gone, but in reality the video output from mpv is noticeably more colorful than the other.

When you search for "identita občana" (Citizen Identity, ID for the Czech e-government), the first link #Google gives you (as an ad) is to a malicious website.

I wonder if companies like Google will ever be held accountable for spreading dangerous scams and getting paid for it.
