@lain I was thinking about why so many of the radical left participate in "speed running"

@0 @i @sun Not sure, I've only seen a few of the FEPs and they seem like steps in the right direction, but I don't know how much traction they really have.
I think I mentioned this before but I'm really sour on AP after getting bogged down in HTTP Signatures just to make fscking requests. Admittedly I made more work for myself than I actually needed to do, but I abandoned that project entirely, especially since functionality is so tied to the server (as opposed to the client, as in nostr), so what I was building would require people to create new identities to use them.
(I think one of Silverpill's FEPs was for portable IDs but I don't recall if you could have them on multiple instances at once, if you could, that would at least address that issue)

@i @sun I don't know if you're exaggerating for effect or not, but having self authenticating events is really, really nice. You end up 2/3 of the way to a content addressable network with just that. Fedi has proved a few times that depending on DNS is a liability for censorship resistance. ... and just in general *looks at SPW* ...
I'm not old enough to have used usenet for anything but file download, so I don't know if NNTP actually supports signed posts as well, it's certainly not a nostr innovation.

@sun There's definitely a lot of complete head scratchers in the design, but at least for me, my complaints are mostly aesthetic. Do you have objections to things that affect it functionally?
For me, the bigger concerns are around spam (and worse) mitigation. That's part of why I built the client in the first place. Both to generate spam and experiment on solutions lol.

@sun have you looked at nostr? Developing a stupid client for it has warmed me up to it significantly.

To the great surprise of nobody at all, the bag is down. Gotta get a bigger server and migrate... ETA: NFI #wow #whoa #italiano
