The democrats have the an advantage in that they're not running a cult. They have a lot of personalities on their side of the aisle that are young and vibrant. The campaign needs to get those people mobilized in front of cameras and show the American public that a vote for democrats is not just a vote for Biden but for a Biden administration.
Also take the gloves off already. Trump is a convicted felon, say so and say it all the time.

I think the tools are already in place someone just needs to bring everyone together under one umbrella. The idea of an admins only moderation channel though is somewhat naive. Would all admins be able to participate? Even the ones getting banned? If not who decides who participates? Does that start to look like centralization?

@AkaSci It's crazy that there's a whole team at NASA that has to maintain expertise on a 50 year old computer and custom OS.

@shoq 100% agree! It's the biggest thing that I miss. Even though it's on the roadmap the pace of implementation suggests its not a priority which I find extremely dissapointing.

Bottom line, as much as my attempted move to Firefox was a dissapointment my move to Vivaldi has been a pleasant surprise.

@J12t I think it's pretty simple. I think companies need to approach the fediverse as a tool for outreach as opposed to promotion. Use it as a tool to advocate for your customers and support their success.

@mike@flipboard.social @LittleTokyo @mmasnick I'm not as up to speed as I should be on Blue Sky moderation, but at one time the personal tools were lacking. If you're referring to algorithmic or ai based moderation, I'd be wary. Obviously with the gates now open, they'll start to be tested. I can see Bluesky gaining critical mass and then being sold. I have thoughts on AT but I'm not an expert so I'll digress.

@mmasnick @mike@flipboard.social You certainly are in the habit of telling people they're wrong. From your point of view as a social broadcaster, it seems conversational because one to many is what you're looking for and the experience you're looking to replace from Twitter.
I've read more on the proposed business model, and I'm not convinced that selling ancillary services is adequate. I see paid content in their future, and yes I could be wrong..

Bluesky is a platform built for social media broadcasters and their audience. It's a streaming service more than a conversation.
Jack didn't build Bluesky because he read your paper, he built it because he needed a version of Twitter that would be easier leverage for paid content.

@J12t @ben @cubicgarden @tchambers Agree 100%, any organization now has the chance to not only own its messaging but also become it's own data sovereign. It's a huge deal but it's also an esoteric concept. The meat and potatoes of why media organizations (and others) haven't adopted Mastodon is because it's broadcast resistant. Threads integration may change that to a best of both worlds situation.

@Brendanjones I like to give humans more credit. In the past they've been able to delineate online communities vs other firms of community. Personally I think server is a much more confused term.

In the federated microblogging world, I think we have a choice. Do we want to be a Twitter clone with volunteer run access nodes (glorified load balancers). Or do we want to be something more, a collection of vibrant communities bridged to each other through the fediverse. There is an opportunity here to not just build something better but be something better. Building a node is easy. Building a community is harder.
