@neenish_tart Cricinfo doesn't seem to have the match listed in the schedule for today or tomorrow, although they have several articles about it.

It looks like the #Ireland vs #Zimbabwe Test #cricket match starting tomorrow will be streamed on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ov5xiqsKs8 Don't know about the geographic restrictions, but the match is not on #WillowTV or #ESPNplus so I hope it will work in the USA.

Apparently #ESPNplus will be streaming the #WestIndies #SouthAfrica Test #cricket match in the USA starting tomorrow (Wed 7 Aug 2024), despite no longer having a Cricket category in their list of sports. #WIvSA

@fu kind of like parents flipping out over common core math because their kids are not learning the same recipes they did for arithmetic.

@fu @ColinTheMathmo a lot would depend on the Ireland-USA match. But USA would presumably not go through on 4 points if they don't win another, given their NRR hit from the Super Over win against Pakistan. (Even if the Super Over counts as a win for tiebreaker purposes, which is not clear.)

@ColinTheMathmo @fu Pakistan also have to beat Ireland. At least it's impossible to have a five-way tie, since either USA or India will end up with more than 4 points.

@ColinTheMathmo I don't see how there would be any benefit in it for Australia unless India lose to the USA. Finishing second in group B means they end up in a super eights group with A1, C1 and D2 instead of A2, C2, and D1. True, Group C is screwy, although assuming WI still wins that group they'll be tougher at home than Afghanistan. So all you're doing is avoiding South Africa.

@ColinTheMathmo @smurthys it's in the interest of the organizers to minimize the chance of such a circumstance arising, and eliminating carryover points certainly helps.

@ColinTheMathmo @smurthys Sweden did pull something like this in ice hockey in the 2006 winter Olympics, tanking their last game to finish 3rd and draw Switzerland in the quarterfinals. Annoyingly, it worked, since they won the QF.

Has anybody heard the official interpretation of the first tiebreaker in the #cricket #T20WorldCup, which is (if teams are level on points) "a) The team with the greatest number of wins in its Group will be placed in the higher
position". Does a Super Over count as a win or a tie for that purpose? Otherwise the only way teams could be level on points but not on wins would be if someone had two no results. https://images.icc-cricket.com/image/upload/prd/euhohq8vpgzi0urumg3y.pdf
