We’re quite worried about this because we think the argument that it’s wrong to interfere with other people’s lives just because they grim you out that we learned as a society from homophobia is basically right. You need to make arguments about why something is a harm and the fact that people are disgusted is kind of neither here nor there.
And it will make a lot of people think we are motivated by disgust and that will make a lot of people think you are bigots and will make people think the TRAs are right and could jeopardise all the work we’ve done to convince people we’re not bigots

The West, including Australia, isn’t a city on a hill due to some vague notion of ‘multiculturalism’ but because of the promise we make each other to respect the sovereignty of the individual. When that promise is broken, by force of the majority or force of government, the West is no longer the West but a mere shadow of itself. The West falls when individual liberty falls, an especially egregious outcome for the marginalised.
Many politicians these days take for granted the freedom that individualism grants us and they’d give it away to save people from the discomfort, even confrontation, even offence, of having their beliefs scorned. Worse still, some would give it away simply for votes, for power. None of these politicians are worthy guardians of liberal western democracy. -

It is crucial to avoid assessing hypersexuality as a categorical symptom and pathological at first, and patients should be evaluated with their sociocultural aspects.
