LA has a long history of summertime rioting, starting with the Watts riots back in 1965.
The current media narrative is very much "The MAGA lunatics are gonna start killing innocent people."
A significant number of the stolen hydrants were taken from Lynwood, which is 88%+ Latino/Hispanic.
Lynwood also contains a number of "immigrant" facilities, services, and shelters.
A paranoid man might be inclined to wonder if the "MAGA Lunatics" are being set up to rampage through the neighborhood and torch the place, while the fire brigade is unable to contain all the blazes, thus exacerbating the loss of life and the media impact of the rioting... -
