I think there's always a role to play for "clean-up" processes which actually work, as long as they don't distract us from the urgent task of cutting down and phasing out fossil fuels and as long as they don't breed complacency with false techno-optimism

Carbon sequestration often doesn't work and can even increase emissions, all while greenwashing and diverting funds and subsidies away from more useful environmental efforts.
So yes, the first step is to stop digging and stop burning!
