@violetblue I am really very tired of the Just Make Shit Up timeline 😓
(To be clear, my ire here is directed at CDC)

#Plushtodon now accompanies our piano!
@xgranade "A bill to reauthorize wildlife habitat and conservation programs, and for other purposes."
Is this the wrong link, or is this one of those things where they hide the poisonous shit in amendments that have nothing to do with the original, innocuous-sounding bill?
(I feel like I already know this answer, and will prepare my heavy sigh of frustration forthwith.)
Is Proton Mail down for anyone else right now? I can't access anything; web login seems to get stuck in some kind of redirect loop, and the Android app can't load any messages. But their status page says all ok?
@mcc Instagram has started surfacing Threads content in a special carousel. My bet is every Instagram DAU is triggering DAU metrics for Threads just by fetching those.
Has anyone on here ever pursued (or actually gotten) any kind of arts grant? I'm particularly interested in literature- and music-oriented stuff.
I'm not so much asking for specific grant opportunities here (although that's great). What I'm mainly getting at is that I have no real idea how to go about finding these. I've done some Googling, but I wonder if there are more efficient and/or more effective avenues?
I finally made a #BlueSky account because it seems all the authors I want to follow are over there and not coming over here.
I quickly discovered that BlueSky appears to lack the ability to mute reposts on a per-account basis, a #Mastodon feature I didn't realize I lean on so heavily until I had to do without. (Lots of people have interesting posts of their own, but they repost waaaay too frequently and overwhelm the feed.)
I was looking at LinkedIn earlier (yes, I know) and my feed was entirely three things: ads, #AI magical thinking nonsense, and #layoffs by companies with record profits. And my feed here isn't so different, save for the addition of some hobbyist dev diary stuff.
I've been in #gamedev for 20 years and it's never felt this unsustainable. I'm taking a #sabbatical this summer — at my own expense, due to a deep need for rest and redirection — and I'm seriously considering just never coming back.
I'm not new here, but my old #introduction no longer fits, so here we are.
I'm a wizened (and withering) game dev since 2004, with credits on Warhawk, Starhawk, LEGO Brawls, and Destiny 2. I mainly do design, but I've also got a tech background and I don't shy away from engineering.
I'm currently exploring more writing and linear storytelling, which were my original passions before I fell into games and got hella burned out. 😭
