Zuckerberg is now claiming Threads has 100 million *daily* active users.
Do you believe this is true?

Zuckerberg is speaking in a context where there are actual legal consequences for not telling the truth. So I don't see how he could be lying. But also I'm doing the "what would have to be true for this to be true?" logic & unless the vast bulk of users are in non-anglophone countries, it doesn't add up.
Look at the "numbers" on Zuckerberg's announcement of 100M+ DAU. I made *checks* six posts on Bluesky (a site with 25M users EVER) with higher metrics than this in the last *week*. Is that odd?
According to his Threads profile, Mark Zuckerberg has 4.5 million followers on Threads. I have 3,400 followers on Bluesky. How am I making posts with more interactions than him, on a network with— if Zuckerberg is telling the truth— 1/100th of the daily userbase? I'm not *that* much more interesting than him.
From replies, this theory as to why the numbers seem weird sounds plausible:

But honestly, I think this is actually the theory I believe:

@mcc Instagram has started surfacing Threads content in a special carousel. My bet is every Instagram DAU is triggering DAU metrics for Threads just by fetching those.
