@tchambers Understood, that's just not good enough for me. You obviously have different factors to consider running a large instance.
Personally I'm pretty jaded with the tech community as a whole. It's probably best that I just avoid it completely.

@tchambers That is your decision to make, but I'm not interested in waiting it out. Their intentions have been made clear, so I will most likely either move this account or simply delete it.
@atomicpoet thanks for the follow-up. Appreciate all you do, but I've got to admit that the Friendica group feature has me a little nervous right now.
I thought @fediversenews was a moderated list, but will have to unfollow after a blatantly hateful, transphobic post was boosted by it.
@Sbectol @atomicpoet @tsadilas
Going to the offender's timeline, it's clear that they were testing this. Which means that groups are useless if they are "moderate after the fact" as that can be exploited easily.
Finishing up the year on #Mastodon by reading this incredible essay by Cat Valente - https://catvalente.substack.com/p/stop-talking-to-each-other-and-start - on the cycle of destruction around online social networks, and @pluralistic 's follow-up - https://pluralistic.net/2022/12/23/semipermeable-membranes/#linkdump . Both very worth the time to read.
@atomicpoet Interesting. Been wondering if my 14 year old might ask me at some point. For now she's lost interest in social media outside of discord.
Working with big tech professionally, but interested in small tech personally.
